Postgraduate Diploma In Strategic Human Capital Management Graduate - Gold Award, specialising in Business Partnering- Sylvia Cheng
Congratulations to Sylvia, who won the Gold Award, specialising in Business Partnering at the 72nd Joint Graduation in Absentia. Below is an account of the opportunities and experiences she has gained through the course.
“I joined Ultra Clean Technologies since 2020 and is currently holding the position of Director, HRBP. I am with over 19 years of HR experience across diverse industries like semiconductor, telecommunications, automotive, and F&B, I bring a wealth of HR knowledge and experience to the table.
As part of my continued learning plan, I decided to pursue the Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Human Capital Management to enhance my skill set and stay updated on local MOM regulations and legislation. This is crucial since I interact with senior leaders daily. The course also provided a fantastic opportunity to network and share best practices with my course mates from various industries.
The most challenging part was managing my time. Balancing the course, work, and family commitments taught me the importance of prioritisation, multi-tasking, and improving efficiency in all areas.
Although the journey was not easy, I found joy in meeting new friends and other experienced HR practitioners. This exposure helped me familiarise myself with HR initiatives like Employee Value Proposition, which is beneficial for my career.
The course was incredibly helpful in my daily interactions with senior leadership teams, enabling me to build stronger partnerships with stakeholders. It also gave me a comprehensive understanding of project priorities, not just from an HR perspective but from a business perspective as well.
I am thrilled and grateful that my hard work paid off when I was informed that I had received the Gold Award. My past HR knowledge and experience allowed me to better relate to what I learned in class and apply it effectively in the corporate world.
My advice to all learners is to never stop learning. There are always new skills and knowledge to gain through continued education. I strongly recommend that current HR practitioners or those looking to transition into HR consider taking courses with SHRI – it will be a rewarding journey for you.”
