Outline

Managing and harnessing the talent and industry of employees has become the cornerstone to achieving an organisation’s business goals. This starts with understanding the rights and obligations of the organisation as well as the employees under Singapore’s legal framework. Whether it be dealing with individual contracts or as a group through the representation of trade unions, it is pivotal that managers, front line supervisors and HR professionals have a working knowledge of employment laws and guidelines governing the employer-employee relationship.

This 2-Day course will equip participants with a comprehensive understanding and application of key features of Singapore’s labour legislation, enabling them to deal effectively with issues including coverage of the Employment Act, contributions to the Central Provident Fund, employment of foreign manpower, post-retirement re-employment. Participants will also learn to apply what has been taught in the course.


Objectives

The national HR certification framework identifies Labour Policies and Legislation as one of the Foundational competencies of future-ready HR professionals.


This is incorporated as part of the IHRP Certification. Purpose of short course is to align learners with Labour Policies and Legislation competency covered in IHRP Certification. It targets to enhance your knowledge, capability and strengthen HR profession practice in Singapore, by managing and harnessing the talent and industry of employees have become the cornerstone to achieving an organisation’s business goals. This journey embarks with in depth understanding of the rights and obligations of employer and employees under Singapore’s legal framework and its practical aspects. Assessment Method

The 2-Day Short Course focuses on the Focal Topics of IHRP Paper A Assessment.

 

There will be an Open Book Assessment conducted within the 2-Day Short Course.

 

This is to help trainees understand the absorption of Learning Outcome, a short assessment is given within the 2-Day Short Course (16-hours).

 

The purpose of the short assessment is to help the trainees to know their SWOT and does not guarantee the success or failure in the actual IHRP Certification Assessment.

 

Trainees must achieve at least 75% attendance and pass the competency assessments to attain the Statement of Attainment.

Application for SkillsFuture Credit

  • Upon receipt of the tax invoice, trainees will need to log in to the SkillsFuture Credit portal to apply for SkillsFuture Credit and upload the tax invoice.
  • Take a screenshot of the approval with the amount applied for and the word ‘approved’ and email it to the Training Provider before the commencement of the course.
  • The Training Provider will collect the NETT fee (i.e., less the SkillsFuture Credit amount) from the trainee if there is still a remaining amount payable.

 

Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP)

  • NTUC members enjoy UTAP* benefits of up to S$250.00 each year when they sign up for the 2-Day Short Course.
  • *UTAP supports 50% of the course fees paid, capped at S$250.00 per year. Trainees must be a union member throughout the course duration and at the time of claim. The SkillsFuture Enterprise Credit (SFEC) encourages employers to invest in enterprise transformation and the capabilities of their employees. Eligible employers will receive a one-off S$10,000 credit to cover up to 90% of out-of-pocket expenses on qualifying costs for supportable initiatives, over and above the support levels of existing schemes.


Funding Criteria

  • Trainees must attend at least 75% of the course and complete the assessment with a pass or competent result.
  • Trainees need to enter the details as mentioned in the e-registration form and email the mandatory documents to the Training Provider.

Trainer Profile

Our Trainer

Noel Khng


Noel Khng has more than 20 years’ experience in the Human Resources field.

 

For 18 of those years, he worked for the Shell Group of Companies, where he held roles as a generalist HR Manager for its Chemicals plant, as well as specialist roles in Recruitment, Staff Administration, Employee and Industrial Relations, HR Information Systems, and Learning and Development.

 

Currently, Noel is an associate lecturer and consultant with several reputable institutions specialising in HR-related programmes.

 

He has also successfully developed numerous Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) HR-related courses for the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA).


IHRP CPD Hours

On completion of this course, trainees will earn 18 HR-related Training Hours/CPD Hours, which can be applied towards the application for or renewal of IHRP certification.

  2. Once we have received the registration and confirmed that the course is set to commence, we will send a course confirmation email to the registrant and request the mandatory documents required for submission.
  3. Once the mandatory documents have been submitted, we will proceed with enrolment and apply for the SSG training grant on TPGateway (for funded courses).
  4. Once the above process is completed, we will prepare the invoice.
  5. Once the invoice is generated, we will send it to the participants.
