“After thoroughly researching the best institutes to enhance my HR skills, I was thrilled to pursue a course at SHRI, driven by my strong desire to build a career in HR. The six-month course was quite a challenge, juggling a tight schedule of work and classes from Friday evenings through the weekends. On top of that, we had to complete group projects before the next lesson. Despite these demands, I remained persistent and motivated to achieve my goal of becoming a certified HR professional.
During the quieter moments, I found great motivation and joy from one of our lecturers, who would brighten the class with uplifting stories. His light-hearted approach helped me grasp the underlying principles behind certain laws more effectively. His friendly and approachable nature left a lasting impression, and I was delighted to find that he would even join us for lunch.
Through this course, I made significant discoveries about how MOM laws have evolved to reflect market shifts and changing needs. As an HR professional, staying updated with these changes is crucial for ensuring our organisation remains compliant.
Given the high calibre of my peers, I was pleasantly surprised to win the Mike Gorrie HRM Award. For those considering this course, my advice is that good time management is essential. Balancing work and studies as a working adult can be tough, but the knowledge and skills gained from this course have benefited my career.
