The Workplace Fairness Act (WFA) is a significant development in Singapore’s employment legislation, introducing stronger legal protections against workplace discrimination.
The Act complements Singapore’s existing Tripartite Guidelines on Fair Employment Practices (TGFEP) by establishing a statutory framework to address discrimination based on specified protected characteristics.
It aims to promote fair employment practices, strengthen workplace grievance-handling processes and encourage employers to create more inclusive and respectful working environments.
Singapore’s Workplace Fairness Act is targeted to take effect at the end of 2027, giving employers time to review and strengthen their workplace policies and practices.
