Course Overview

This course, Handling Grievances and Staff Discipline Effectively, equips leaders, managers, and HR professionals with essential skills to identify, address, and prevent workplace grievances and harassment effectively.

Objective

Participants will gain practical tools to understand the root causes of conflicts and complaints, implement proactive measures, and cultivate a respectful workplace culture.

Learning Outcome

Through interactive workshops, real-life case studies, and role-playing scenarios, this course will develop your ability to:

  • Understand how grievances occur in the workplace and the common grievance in the workplace.
  • To be able to handle grievances effectively.
  • Recognise and respond to various forms of workplace harassment and grievances promptly and appropriately.
  • Apply clear and structured frameworks for managing complaints while ensuring confidentiality and fairness.
  • Engagement in effective communication strategies to de-escalate and resolve conflicts.
  • How to maintain a positive relationship in the workplace and reducing the likelihood of recurring issues.

This course is designed for Supervisors, Team Leaders, Reporting Officers, Managers, HR Professionals or anyone who is or will be managing teams or individuals.


Course Delivery

This is a highly interactive course delivered through a combination of lectures, interactive discussions, role-plays and practical exercises.

  • 8 Hours (8 hours does not include lunch break) 
  • 09:00AM to 06:00PM (inclusive of 1 hour lunch break) *Registration commences at 08:30AM 

Assessment Method

There will be an Open Book Assessment conducted within the 1 Day Short Course.

This is to help trainees understand the absorption of Learning Outcome, a short assessment is given within the 1 Day Short Course (8 hours).

The purpose of the short assessment is to help the trainees to know their SWOT.

Trainees must achieve at least 75% attendance and must have passed the competency assessments to attain the Statement of Attainment.

SkillsFuture Credit

For self-sponsored Singapore Citizens aged 25 years and above

  • Self-sponsored applicants can use SkillsFuture credits to offset the course fees by applying here.

Application for SkillsFuture Credit

  • Upon receipt of tax invoice, trainees will need to log in to the SkillsFuture Credit portal to apply for the SkillsFuture Credit and upload the Tax Invoice.
  • Take a screen shot of the approval with the amount applied for and the word ‘approved’, email it to the Training Provider before commencement of the course.
  • Training Provider will collect the NETT Fee (i.e., less the SkillsFuture Credit amount) from trainee if there is still a remaining amount payable. 


Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP)

  • NTUC members enjoy UTAP* benefit of up to $200 each year when you sign up for the 1-Day Short Course.
  • *UTAP supports 50% of the course fees paid cap at $200 per year. Trainee must be a union member throughout the course duration and at the time of claim. Trainee must achieve a minimum of 75% attendance for each application and have sat for all prescribed assessment.

The SkillsFuture Enterprise Credit (SFEC) encourages employers to invest in enterprise transformation and capabilities of

their employees. Eligible employers will receive a one-off S$10,000 credit to cover up to 90% of out-of-pocket expenses on qualifying costs for supportable initiatives, over and above the support levels of existing schemes

Alvin Goh

Alvin is an accomplished international senior business manager with over 20 years of experience in the financial and consulting industry, where he played key roles in various business and human capital transformation projects that have translated to net bottom line growth of USD100 million. He spent over seven years in a regional bank covering 15 cities as the Chief HR Officer and Chief of Staff.

 

Highly adaptable to corporate transformation, human capital management, and business growth, Alvin enjoys the challenges of solving complex business issues. His practical competencies and influential people skills have been well evidenced in various M&A, transformational, and corporate development projects he has personally undertaken. More recently, he provided end-to-end leadership in a business transformation and created a new operating model that resulted in an immense improvement in employee satisfaction and top-line business growth. He was also instrumental in the conceptualisation & development of a predictive and preventive human capital model that has enabled the identification of talent earlier in their careers and the deployment of these talents.


In more recent settings, Alvin has been working alongside the Ministry of Manpower on the Fair Consideration Framework since 2021 in Workstream 1 and Workstream 2. He has also been recently appointed by the Ministry of Community, Culture, Youth and Sports to serve a two-year term on Singapore National Integration Council. He is also a member of the disciplinary board of the Institute of Technical Education and has mediated several notable issues.

 

Alvin has lived and worked in China, France, and Vietnam. He has done long-term global consulting engagement work where he deepened his international business acumen and an appreciation of the need for diversity of thought. He obtained his Bachelor of Business from Australia, where he graduated with distinction, and pursued his MBA from the University of Western Australia's Graduate School of Management. He is currently undertaking his Doctorate studies.


Course Registration

  1. Interested applicants are required to register via the registration link. 
  2. Once we have received the registration and when the course is confirmed to commence, we will send out a course confirmation email to registrant and request for mandatory documents required for submission. 
  3. Once mandatory documents have been submitted, we will proceed to perform enrolment and application of SSG training grant on TPGateway. (for funded courses) 
  4. Once the above process is completed, we will prepare the invoice. 
  5. Once the invoice is generated, we will send it to participants.
