Programme Details

The Certified Professional in Coaching for Organisational Growth is designed to meet International Coaching Federation (ICF) Level 1 coach education requirements. The overall programme comprises three modules:

  1. Module 1: The Essentials of Coaching
  2. Module 2: Coaching for Transformation and Performance
  3. Module 3: Fostering a Culture of Growth in Organisations

[Note: Modules 2 and 3 are not available for standalone enrolment and can only be taken as part of the full three-module programme.]

Upon completion of all three modules of the programme and passing the performance evaluation, learners will receive the Certified Professional in Coaching for Organisational Growth issued by SHRI Academy Pte Ltd.

Learners must also achieve at least 75% attendance and pass the Open Book Competency Assessment in order to attain the Statement of Attainment (SOA) for each module. Upon receiving the SOA and passing the competency assessments, learners will then be eligible for the next module in the programme (learners must complete Module 1 before moving on to Module 2, then Module 3). This course is accredited by ICF for Level 1 coaching education, meeting the educational and mentoring requirements for Associate Certified Coach (ACC) credentialing purposes.

The overall programme learning is 71 hours long, including 10 hours of mentor coaching. The three modules stretch over a 6-to-8-month period, with practice coaching and individual mentor coaching in between each module. The intent is to enable continuous practice, learning and reflections, as well as mentor coaching to provide feedback for the learners to build on and improve their coaching skills.

Performance evaluation for the programme will be held after the final individual mentor coaching session post Module 3. The programme is illustrated as below:

Learning Design and Approach

Forward Learning with Backward Design

The programme begins with the end in mind, of equipping coach trainees to become competent with ICF core competencies in their coaching practice, and contextualised with an organisational performance and growth in mind.

The learning adopts a blended and hybrid learning approach and based on adult learning theories and principles. In blended learning, in-class learning is supported by online material. Hybrid learning uses both in-person and synchronous online learning,as well as independent learning instructional format and methods.

Programme Approach

This programme adopts a holistic pedagogy of practice-oriented and experiential learning experience based on adult learning theories. It introduces concepts, combining the learning with the being of the coach-in-role, as well as skills and practice of coaching. Effectively, the course focuses on the holistic approach of a coach through the head (cognitive, thinking), heart (affective, feeling), and hands (behavioural, doing), as seen below:

{{brizy_dc_image_alt imageSrc=

Using the analogy of an iceberg as seen below, besides working on the skills and “doing” part of coaching, this course also focuses on the parts below the iceberg that are not visible. These include the mindset, values, assumptions, beliefs and emotions, essentially the “being” part of the coach which influence the “doing” or behaviour.

Coaching Approach

The fundamental belief of no one is an island guides the coaching approach in this programme. The coaching approach looks at the whole picture, not just the individual, but their role, relationships, and work environment. Coaches support clients by understanding their personal experience as well as the wider systems they are part of, helping them grow with clarity and context.

Learning Methods

All modules of the programme adopt an active learning approach centred around adult-learning principles. Learning methods used include:

  • Mini lectures
  • Group and class discussions
  • Activities and games
  • Skills practice
  • Reflective practice
  • Peer learning
  • Case studies
  • Video
  • Mentor coaching
  • Independent learning

Frequently Asked Questions

Upon successful completion of Module 1, what if I'm unable to make it for the Module 2 schedule, is there another run I can participate in? Is there a time-frame where I need to proceed with the completion of Module 2 & 3 in order to attain the ICF Certification?

It is ideal if you could mark your calendar and commit to the cohort-based schedule for the following reasons:

  • It helps you to keep up with the momentum and continuity of the learning, as well as enjoying the peer support in the cohort as you learn together.
  • There is no guarantee that a module may run in the future due to various reasons.

I have already completed another similar coaching course for the first module in another coaching school. Can I directly register for your Module 2?

Different coaching schools may organise their course structure and approach coaching differently from SHRI Academy. Therefore, this would make it difficult for us to match your prior learning to our courses. Furthermore, as the modules are scaffolded in sequence, there may be some concepts in Module 2 that are built on the ones in Module 1. Not having attended Module 1 in SHRI Academy may make it difficult for you to follow effectively in Module 2. Furthermore, the ICF accreditation is for the three modules as a package. It may be challenging for you to apply to ICF when you need to combine different schools’ coaching education when applying for your ACC credential exams. For more information on how to combine different schools coaching education for credentialing purposes, please check with ICF directly.

What is the difference between the SOA I will obtain at the end of each module and the credentialing I will get at the end of the programme?

This programme meets two different frameworks – one by SkillsFuture (SSG) and the other one by ICF. The SOA is issued by SSG while the credentialing is by ICF. Furthermore, the Certified Professional in Coaching for Organisational Growth is issued by SHRI Academy. This means you attain three certifications in the programme.

After completion of all the 3 Modules, will SHRI Academy assist me to register for the ICF Certification?

Registration for ICF credentialing is undertaken by yourself as a personal aspiration. SHRI Academy will issue you a certificate indicating the full course which you completed and passed is accredited by ICF. This allows you to apply to ICF for ACC credentialing after you have met all requirements for the credentialing application.

How much is the ICF Certification Fee and requirement?

Currently, it costs USD $175 credentialing fee for ICF members and USD$325 for non-members. The ACC eligibility requirements include:

  • 60 hours of coaching education
  • 100 hours of coaching experience (at least 75% paid hour)
  • 10 hours of mentor coaching over 3 months.
  • Successful completion of a performance evaluation
  • Passing score on the ICF ACC exam.
