Announcement
Singapore, 10 January 2025 – The Singapore Human Resources Institute (SHRI) is pleased to note the passing of the Workplace Fairness Bill in Parliament today. This marks a significant milestone in advancing inclusive and respectful workplace practices across Singapore.
Moving forward, SHRI will continue to engage HR professionals and business leaders through ongoing training, workshops, and advisory services. Our focus will be on equipping organisations with the tools to embed fairness into their core practices while providing targeted support to smaller businesses, particularly those with fewer than 25 employees.
Since 2021, SHRI has been actively involved as part of the Tripartite Committee on Workplace Fairness, representing the voices of the HR community and advocating for fair employment practices. We have also hosted multiple WFL-related workshops and engagement sessions. These initiatives include our Grievance Handling and Workplace Harassment course, designed to equip organisations – particularly those without established policies or seeking to strengthen their frameworks – with the knowledge and tools needed for fair and effective workplace practices.
SHRI believes the WFL is more than a compliance tool; it embodies the spirit of fairness. Beyond policy adherence, we encourage businesses and Singaporeans to embrace the human side of work – recognising that every individual brings unique strengths and capabilities to the table.
“The passing of the Workplace Fairness Bill is a crucial step towards building a more inclusive workforce. At SHRI, we believe fairness goes beyond policy – it’s about creating a culture where individuals are seen, heard, and valued. We are committed to working closely with the HR community to make this vision a reality for all businesses, large and small,” said Mr D N Prasad, President, SHRI.
SHRI stands ready to collaborate with organisations and HR professionals to shape an inclusive and fair workforce that reflects Singapore’s core values of progress, adaptability, and unity.
