Announcement
Singapore, 23 October 2023 – The Singapore Human Resources Institute (SHRI) proudly launches its inaugural Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Hearts & Hands: Fill A Bag, Fill A Tummy, at the Expo & Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands, Hall C. This initiative brings together a total of 160 volunteers from SHRI’s network of HR professionals and business leaders, uniting them to pack 3,000 charity bags filled with essential food items such as rice, biscuits, and canned goods. These care packages, provided by Food Bank, will be distributed to underprivileged families across Singapore, offering vital support during challenging times.
Why ‘Hearts & Hands’?
The initiative embodies the spirit of empathy and action—uniting the hearts of HR professionals who care deeply about the community, with the hands that work together to make a tangible difference. By combining compassion with collaboration, Hearts & Hands symbolises the collective effort to bring relief and hope to those in need, especially in times of economic uncertainty and rising living costs.
“Hearts & Hands exemplifies the very essence of the HR profession – people-centric and dedicated to community well-being,” said Alvin Aloysius Goh, Executive Director of SHRI. “By contributing our time and expertise, we’re not just providing aid; we’re fostering a culture of shared responsibility. Every bag packed represents a tangible act of kindness, reflecting the empathy and commitment that defines HR as a profession.”
The Hearts & Hands initiative marks the beginning of SHRI’s sustained commitment to social responsibility and community engagement. Recognising the pivotal role HR professionals can play in making a positive impact, SHRI aims to create more opportunities for members to share their skills and expertise for the greater good. This initiative sets the foundation for a culture of giving back, with plans to develop further programmes that encourage active involvement and social contribution.
“Our goal is to build a legacy of positive change,” added Mr Goh. “Empowering our members to give back strengthens the fabric of our society and inspires future generations of HR leaders to lead with compassion and social impact at the forefront.”
