Course Overview

  1. Develop a good overview of a holistic approach in implementing a firm wide risk management framework within an organisation. This include designing procedures and policies to manage PEOPLE risk holistically.
  2. Deep dive into how organisation can implement an effective risk framework that is fit for purpose. Application based with hands on exercises using the Risk Work Book.
  3. Dedicated deep dive session in applying risk management knowledge into managing PEOPLE related risk and crisis management (pre and post).
  4. Using hands-on scenario analysis in managing PEOPLE related risk and crisis management. This done through the Risk Playbook.

Course Outline and Learning Outcome

The course covers the following:

  • Design appropriate risk appetite statement and Three Lines of Defense for your organisation.
  • Conduct effective risk and control self-assessment and design appropriate controls.
  • Design and review Business Process Management and Crisis Management Tools.
  • Design HR Risk strategy that aligns to company’s risk appetite with focus on staff empowerment, psychological safety, morale management and even succession planning.
  • Prepare a HR risk profile and heat-map for your organisation.

About the Guest Speakers

Derek Tan

Derek has more than 25 years of professional HR experience in both the private and public sectors in Singapore. His work stints include Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore Tourism Board, Central Provident Fund Board, Civil Service College, the former Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, Ministry of Education and the Public Service Division. His areas of expertise cover total rewards, performance management, career development, competency and capability development systems. He currently provides consultancy & training services to companies and institutions in the region. He is also a Council Member of SHRI.

Shawn Tan
HR Director SEA
(Under Armour)

Shawn Tan is an experienced HR professional who has held regional HR and business leadership roles across hospitality, consulting , media and retail industries. Throughout his career, his strong understanding of how business works has helped him link HR initiatives with specific requirements. This encompasses functions across HR business partnering, change management, policy development, employee relations, industrial relations and talent management.

In his current role as HR Director for Under Armour SEA, Shawn oversees the people function and provides HR leadership in driving business growth. He is deeply passionate about aligning talent and leadership development with business strategies, concurrently transforming and optimising potential of both people and business.

SSG Training Grant

Course fee after SSG training grant may vary and is subjected to SSG approval.

*Grant amount indicated here does not include absentee payroll (AP) funding as this is dependent on the trainee’s hourly basic salary (other than for trainees supported by surrogate Employers, where AP is computed on flat rate independent of salary).

Funding Criteria

Trainee must attend at least 75% of the course, complete the assessment with a pass or competent result.

Award of Certificate

Participants must achieve at least 75% attendance and must have passed the competency assessments to attain the Statement of Attainment and receive a joint certificate from Ngee Ann Polytechnic and SHRI.

About the Trainers

Anthony Lim is currently serving as Chief Risk & Compliance Officer for Aviva Investors Asia. He is responsible for the risk management and compliance function for the Asia Pacific business. He has held similar roles in other multinational financial institutions and corporates. Anthony holds a Bachelor of Business degree in Banking & Finance, and is a CFA chartered holder and a certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM). Anthony has 23 years’ direct experience in the field of risk management, governance and compliance. In his spare capacity, he serves as co-chapter director for GARP in Singapore for the last 10 years. He is also a member of the Development Committee at Investment Association of Singapore (“IMAS”). Anthony also served a member of the Singapore Institute of Director’s Professional Development Committee.

Lim Keng Hwee is the CEO of Victory Consulting and Services and is responsible for setting the strategic direction and managing the business. Keng Hwee brought with him extensive commercial experience gained from more than 20 years working for a successful SME. Being the General Manager of Strategic Management and Business Development, he worked closely with the Executive Director, where he oversaw the strategic management in finance and accounting, MIS, human resources, business operations including IT, marketing, insurance, logistics and all other business functions.  Given the opportunity to interact with many business owners and professionals, he is familiar with the mindset of these business owners and their view of risk and governance.  Through association with the SGX-listed arm of the SME, he understands the necessity, requirements and best practices of Corporate Governance.  Keng Hwee graduated with a Bachelor of Accounting from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
